Choreographic Residency - Grand Rapids, USA

During November Loughlan was invited by Artistic Director Patricia Barker to create a new work for Grand Rapids Ballet.

His new work They/Them is an exploration of gender expression amongst a group of dancers and aims to present gender as a fluid construct, undefined by traditional binary ideologies. With an original score by Gareth Wiecko and gender neutral costumes designed by William Fitzgerald (pictured top right), the work will premiere in February 2018.

During his time in the States Loughlan experienced life in the Mid West. He had a chance to explore the city of Chicago (bottom right), take part in an American Halloween with Grand Rapids Ballet (bottom left), and learn the difference between colour and color.
